Dangerous Consumptions

The 14th Dangerous Consumptions Colloquium will be held on 24th and 25th November 2016 at Victoria University’s Kelburn campus.

The Colloquium draws on social, cultural and critical theory to discuss research on any forms of ‘dangerous’, ‘risky’ and contested consumption. We encourage presentations exploring topics as diverse as: alcohol, tobacco, pharmaceuticals, coffee, sugar, illicit drugs, gambling, sex, IVF, surrogacy, the Internet, social media, media forms/popular culture, pornography, human hair, clothing, fossil fuels, food and animals.

The Colloquium runs over two days with a single stream of papers (no concurrent sessions). This gives participants the opportunity to enter into collaborative discussions about dangerous consumptions and the conceptual approaches used to make sense of them.
